What is this?
After being involved in approximately 400 group chats about the dismal “Sex and the City” reboot, I decided to compile my thoughts in one place. This started as an email draft to some close friends, then once I opened it up to Instagram followers, I realized I shouldn’t send a mass email to a bunch of strangers who may only be loosely connected to me. I didn’t want to bcc everyone because I wanted people to discuss amongst themselves! (By all means, disagree with my takes!). Hence, this substack.
The name “My Hair Hurts” comes from an iconic “Sex and the City” scene in which Charlotte York is incredibly hungover after dancing the night away in Staten Island and nearly falling off the ferry. While I’ve never been drunk on Staten Island, I have fallen off a few New York City sidewalks in my day. And I work in the hair industry.
Why should you subscribe?
Because I’m a wordy bitch who has a lot of opinions on pop culture. If you subscribe, you’ll get my semi-irregular updates delivered right to your inbox.
Why should you care?
idk. You probably don’t. But what else is the Internet good for if not letting any idiot with an opinion and a keyboard express themselves. At the very least, I’ve got over 10 years in the beauty biz, so you can trust my recommendations there. And I’d love to read your comments if you are so inclined—I don’t want to just be writing into the void (…but I will still do that, too).
Who tf am I?
A 30-something New Yorker who has way too many opinions. I work in the beauty biz (…hair, natch), and I love Madonna, pop concerts, Hilary Duff, “Sex and the City,” and have an unironic nostalgia for The Babysitters Club. I watch way too much TV, enjoy cooking Italian food, and will never say no to a trip.
